Treatment of asthma is carried out using what is known as ‘stepwise management’. This is where the severity of your child’s asthma symptoms is assigned a ‘step’, from one to five, and treatment follows accordingly. As their symptoms get better, or worse, they may move up or down a step in their treatment plan.
