Real life stories – how arthritis affected our lives
Jun 29th
I broke my ankle and was warned by an orthopedic surgeon to expect the onset of osteoarthritis. What I didn’t anticipate was that within five years, not only both my ankle joints, but also my knees and hips would be affected. I currently live with a dull constant pain, which will continue for the rest of my life
Arthritis
Jun 27th
The cause of osteoarthritis is not fully understood. One theory is that some people are genetically predisposed to developing osteoarthritis, which means that they have an increased likelihood of inheriting it from their parents. However, this theory has not yet been proven.
Irritable hip — acute transient synovitis
Jun 26th
Symptoms of irritable hip usually develop quickly, starting as strong pain and restricted movement in one of the hip joints (it is rare for both hips to be affected). In some cases, the pain can spread to the thigh, groin and knee. Walking or even standing may become very uncomfortable.
Complications of ileostomy

Sometimes, the ileostomy does not function for short periods of time. This is not usually a problem. However, if your stoma is not active for more than six hours, and you experience cramps or nausea, you may have an obstruction. In this situation, you should contact your doctor or stoma nurse.

Appendicitis – the causes and symptoms
Jan 26th
The reason we have an appendix is unclear. The biologist Charles Darwin thought that the appendix may be a by-product of evolution; something that early humans needed to help digest plants. However, recent research has suggested that the appendix may provide a home to ‘friendly bacteria’ that aid digestion and help fight infection.
Causes of pain deeper in the pelvis during and after intercourse (deep dyspareunia)
Jan 9th
Exceptionally painful intercourse results because the ovaries intermittently come to lie behind the top of the vagina and between it and the back of the pelvis. The ovaries may then be caught during intercourse. This is most likely with the woman lying on her back, (in the “dorsal in position”), in the dorsal position (lying on her back) and an alteration to the left side is recommended.
